Jack was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church with his wife, Fran. Known to all as Jackie, he will be remembered for his love of cooking on the grill, getting together with friends, taking vacations and spending quiet times together with Fran at their home with their family dog, Harry.
Jack also loved movies, and reading. Before he became ill five years ago, he ran Mercer Pest Control for thirty years. Jackie was also a member of the Raleigh Jaycees for many years and made many friends.
Jack is survived by his wife Frances M. Mercer, Godchildren: Josh, Jacob and Jordan Pishko and Katharine Scott.
A time of visitation will held 7-9 p.m. Friday July, 8, 2016 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home 300 Saint Mary's St. Raleigh, NC 27605 Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday July 9, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church 112 S Salisbury St, Raleigh, NC 27601, with Rev. Anna Dickson officiating. Interment will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the American Heart Foundation .
