Mary Evalene Smith Barwick, 77 of the Alarka community went home to be with the Lord on April 6, 2016. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Wheeler and Ruby Smith. She is survived by her daughters, Audrey Frost and Olivia McEntire and her son Jim Leatherwood, daughter in law Keron Leatherwood, son in law Brant McEntire, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grand-daughter. She will be missed dearly. A celebration of life gathering was held on August 27, 2016.
