David “Rat” Anderson, 62, of the Lower Mountain Creek Community in Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at his residence. He was the son of the Margie Beasley Anderson of Fontana Dam, NC, and the late Coyt Anderson. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cecil Anderson, and his sister, Brenda Gail McCollum. David enjoyed spending time outdoors. He spent many hours fishing, golfing and hunting. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Barbara Stewart Anderson; his daughter and son in law, Julie and Richard Keathley of Wartburg, TN; his sons and daughter in law, Brandon and Courtney Anderson of Glade Hill, VA, and Logan Howarth of Robbinsville, NC; and his sisters, Wanda Silvers of Burnsville, NC, and Deborah Gilreath of Dalton, GA. He has four grandchildren, Jack Howarth, Parklyn Anderson, Ethan Wallace and Lyla Keathley, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 28, 2016 at New Hope Baptist Church. The Reverend Jesse Adams will officiate. Burial will follow at Carver Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm Sunday at the church, prior to the service. Townson-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
