Steven Randall Carnes, 29, died Thursday at North Florida Regional Hospital in Gainesville die to injuries from an accident.
He was born in Key West and had lived in Interlachen, where he graduated from Interlachen High School in 1982. He also graduated from Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Air National Guard and a Romad of Brunswick, Ga.. He was employed as a technician with Quality Analytical Labs in Alachua where he had worked for three years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Interlachen where he taught a pre-school class.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Carnes of Interlachen; daughters, Elizabeth Lenay Carnes and Chelsea Erin Carnes of Interlachen; parents, Ronnie Lee Carnes Sr. and Betty Carnes of Florahome; brothers, Ronnie Lee Carnes Jr. of Florahome, Terry Lynn Carnes of Hilton Head, S.C.; and sister, Lori Ann Sturdivant of Florahome.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Interlachen with the Rev. James A. Roberson and Hence allen officiating. Burial will be in Etoniah Cemetery in Palatka.
