The Rev. Arthur Franklin Blackburn, 68, of Rt. 3 High Point, died Tuesday at High Point Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Ashe County May 23, 1913, a son of the late James Fred and Maggie Perkins Blackburn. He was former pastor of Landis Baptist Church, and founded and was pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church, both of Landis. He was pastor of Gospel Baptist Church in High Point until his retirement. He was twice married, first to Margaret Rickard, who died Dec. 9, 1970. He later married Frances Spry, who survives of the home.

Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Mrs. Becky Luther of Monroe; one stepson, Dewey Hilliard of Greensboro; one step-daughter, Mrs. Diane Williams of High Point; two half-brothers, Howard and Paul Smith, both of Lincolnton; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Honeycutt, Mrs. Nell Queen, and Mrs. Ethel Hicks, all of Lincolnton; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gospel Baptist church in High Point by the Rev. Frank Gribble. Graveside service will be at 4:30 in Westlawn Memorial Park in China Grove. The body was to have been taken from Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove to Gospel Baptist Church in High Point today where it will remain until the hour of service. The family will be at the church from 7-9 tonight.
