Bobby George Smith, 72, of Idalou, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006 in Lubbock. He was born on April 17, 1934 in Brownfield, to the late Leonard H. and Christine (Lowrance) Smith.

Bobby attended school at McCoy Community Elementary School and was a 1952 Graduate of Floydada High School. He also attended Draughn's Business College for two years. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Bobby married Donna Pierce on April 6, 1954 in Clovis, New Mexico. They moved from Floydada to Idalou in 1965. Bobby worked in sales and also in farming. He was a member of Young Farmers Association and of the Lumberman's Association. He was also a member of the Idalou United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Donna of Idalou; a son, Bradley Smith and wife, Mary Jo of Oviedo, Florida; a brother-in-law, who Bobby loved as a son, Randy Pierce and wife Verena of Sudan; a daughter, Christy Hurst and husband, Joe of Idalou; four grandchildren and one great-grandson, Jerred Hurst and wife, Jennifer and their son, Noah, Jay Hurst and wife Kim, Stephanie Smith and Matthew Smith; a brother, Billy Jo Smith and wife, Gleva, of Floydada; a sister, Mozell Caldwell of Lubbock; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006 at the Idalou Cemetery Chapel. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Idalou United Methodist Church, with Reverend David Ceballos, pastor, officiating.
