James R. Barth age 68 of Douglas, MI died Monday Aug. 1, 2016 at his home.

James graduated from Elgin High School, Loyola University and Northwestern University with a Masters’ Degree. He taught Latin and Spanish at Elgin High School for 35 years. In 2001 he retired and moved to Douglas. Jim is well known in the area for his dry sense of humor, intelligence, and his great dinner parties where he used his grandmother’s recipes to keep his many friends happy and full!

At Christmas time he would make his famous fruit cakes and cookies and deliver them to our doctors and local post office and mail several fruit cakes to his out of state friends.

Jim’s hobbies included playing bridge and doing the New York crossword puzzles. He also loves cats. We have four of them and he made sure that I knew that they are at the top of his priorities! He has been the love of my life and will be missed beyond any words that I can find.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, William and Irene Barth and survived by his spouse, Stephen J. Inskeep of Douglas, brother, Douglas (Jodi) Barth, niece, Megan Barth and second cousin, Bill Klatt.

A celebration of James life will be held at a later date. Please send any memorial contributions to Wishbone Pet Rescue, 165 Blue Star Hwy, Douglas, MI. 49406.
