Funeral services for Wilson Hudson Buchanan, 83, who died Thursday at the Pocahontas Community Hospital, were held at the Hitchcock Chapel here Saturday. Mr. Buchanan had been in ill health for some time.

The Rev Mervin Nelson, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiated at the services. Mrs MD Shankland, accompanied by Mrs HM Pohlman, sang “The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beyond the Sunset" at the services. Burial was at the Laurens Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth Bailey, Richard Lund, Robert Bailey, Sterling Knoll, LJ Hawley and LV Bussey.

Son of Mr and Mrs James Buchanan, Wilson H Buchanan was born June 26, 1887 at Coon Rapids. He was educated in the Coon Rapids schools and farmed in Canada.

Mr Buchanan married Elsie Riches June 5, 1912, and they farmed in Canada number of years before moving to Plover. They later farmed at Auburn, Nebraska and Louisville, Kentucky before retiring to Laurens. Mrs Buchanan died in 1951. On September 5, 1953, he married Olive Reyman of Laurens at Sebeka, Minnesota.

Survivors include his widow; three daughters, Mrs Glenn Forsythe of Plover, Mrs Fred Forsythe Jr. of Laurens and Mrs Aubrey George of Sioux Rapids; a sister, Mrs May Brooks of Gladstone, Manitoba, Canada; two brothers, RC Buchanan of Louisville, Kentucky and Clifton Buchanan of Gladstone, Manitoba, Canada; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
