Harrell Ray Riggins, 71, of Iowa Park, TX, went peacefully home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. Harrell, affectionately known by his grandchildren as "Pawpaw", was born on February 15, 1945, in Olney, TX, to the late Harrell Thomas and Ida Lee (Alexander) Riggins. He graduated from Olney High School in 1963, and married Kathleen Kay (Kathy) Smith on October 31, 1964, in Wichita Falls, TX. They set up home in Olney, but moved to Iowa Park, TX in 1966, where they were members of Faith Baptist Church. Harrell worked for Air Tractor in Olney, TX; PPG, Gearhart, and General Dynamics; Harrell was a long-time, award-winning canopy/sheet metal specialist at Sheppard AFB, TX. He was a past active member of Young Farmers of Wichita County, Iowa Park FFA Booster Club, and on the board of the Wichita County Junior Livestock Show. He was a current member of the Red River Rifle & Pistol Club, the National Rifle Association, and local chapter Red River Longbeards, TX of the National Wild Turkey Federation(NWTF). He volunteered with the NWTF to provide hunting trips for children and disabled veterans. He was a member of the Agape Barrel Fellowship Sunday School class. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He loved fishing with his best friends, Jerry Don Clifton and Robert Wheeler. He also enjoyed hunting, collecting, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He had a "big heart" and always had a smile on his face. He loved to tease and joke with people. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathy Riggins; his son, Thomas Wayne Riggins and wife Michelle; his daughter Kristy Kay Rhodes; his five grandchildren, Justin Wayne Fowler and wife Tara, Madison Ellen Riggins, Seth Thomas Riggins, and Brayden James Riggins, all of Iowa Park, TX; and Gage Wayne Evans of Scotland, TX; and great-grandchildren, Cooper Wayne, Cason Dwayne, Connor Ray, and "soon-to-be" Piper Rose Fowler of Iowa Park, TX; his brother, Jerry Don Riggins and wife Mary Ann of Olney, TX; numerous cousins and many friends. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Tulsa for their care of Harrell. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Friday, July 29, 2016, at Dutton Funeral Home in Iowa Park, TX. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa Park, TX, with Harrell's long-time Sunday School teacher and friend, Paul Arrington officiating. Internment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Iowa Park, TX.
