Mrs. Margaret M. Koopman, of Bloomington, passed away at the venerable age of 97 years 9 months and 24 days on Sunday, July 24, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at Orchard Manor Nursing Home.

Margaret, the daughter of Paul and Susan (Gillitzer) O'Shaughnessy, was born on September 30, 1918. Margaret graduated from Seneca High School.

On November 6, 1940, she was united in marriage to Omer C. Koopman at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Seneca. After their marriage they farmed on the Koopman family farm in Patch Grove Township for over 60 years.

Margaret was a homemaker and loved raising her family. She raised chickens and chinchillas and all of the chores that came with them.

Margaret was a talented seamstress and sewed many dresses, clothing, and even wedding dresses for family and friends.

She had a very artistic side and enjoyed painting china, oil painting, and decorating wedding cakes.

Margaret was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 29, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Visitation for family and friends of will be held from 9:15 a.m. until time of Mass at the church, where a 9:00 a.m. Parish Rosary will be prayed.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
