David was a native of Philadelphia; he came to Reading about 1854. He was a member of Grace United Evangelical church. Survivors included his wife Mary; children Mrs. James L. Gorden of Toronto, Mrs. John Bierling and Madie James of Reading, John F. and Thomas F. James of Philadelphia, Richmond L. of Johnstown NY; brothers William of Erie, and George of Philadelphia; also nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
