Mr. David E. Arbogast, 76, a resident of the Laurel View Apartments, and more recently of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center in Belington, went home to be with the Lord at 11:58 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2009, at the center. He had been in declining health for quite some time.

He was born April 2, 1933, at Junior, a son of the late Leslie H. and Mary Valentine Arbogast.

On Aug. 27, 1955, at Junior, he was united in marriage to the former Martha Ann "Marty" Stalnaker, who resides at their home in Belington.

Mr. Arbogast is survived by one son, Richard Mowbray and wife, Virginia, of Bridgewater, Va.; two brothers, Jack Arbogast and wife, Doris, of Dayton, Va., and Don Arbogast and wife, Mary, of Dayton, Va.; and one sister, Helen Francis Robertson and husband, Byrt, of Uniontown, Ohio. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Crystal Wolfe and husband, Gene, Lee Mowbray and wife, Tosha, Melissa Riley and husband, John, Tammy Thorpe and husband, Dale, David Morris, Robert Morris and Mandy Morris; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Vicki Morris; two brothers, Charles Arbogast and Robert Arbogast; and one sister, Lois Farris.

Mr. Arbogast graduated from the Belington High School with the class of 1951 and Glenville State College in 1958 majoring in music. He was a band and choral teacher in Clay County, elementary and high school band and choral teacher in Elkton, Va., and taught at Bridgewater College in Bridgewater, Va., as a band and choir director. Dave attended the Westside United Methodist Church and always strived to serve the Lord with his musical talents.

Friends were received at Talbott Funeral Home, 210 Brandenburg St. in Belington today until 11 a.m. when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Robert Baer Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Junior.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the Barbour County Good Samaritan, attention: Activity Department, RR 3 Box 15C, Belington, W.Va. 26250.
