Kay Lee Smith Chandler - Tybee Island - Kay S. Chandler, 81, passed away Monday, November 6, 2006 at Memorial Health University Medical Center. She was a native of Savannah and graduate of Savannah High School. The family later moved to Richmond, Virginia where she worked as a licensed cosmetologist. After retiring in 1980, they returned to Tybee Island where she was a communicant of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a member of the Tybee Arts Association. Kay was an accomplished painter and enjoyed ceramics. Mrs. Chandler was predeceased by her parents, Wm. Lance Smith, Sr. and Florence Melton Smith, and her husband, James M. Chandler, Sr. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, J.M. "Sandy" Chandler, Jr. and Sally; son, Chris D. Chandler, all of Tybee Island; grandson, James M. Chandler, III of Grants, New Mexico and several cousins. Visitation: 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the Islands Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors with a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2006 at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Tybee Island with Reverend P.
