Billy William Layell of State Road passed away July 9, 2016.
Mr. Layell was born May 2, 1937 in Wilkes County to Vonce and Iva Swift Layell.
Mr. Layell retired from Wilkes County School System at C.B. Eller Elementary School.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Francis Carol Layell, and a daughter, Iva Marie Swaim.
Survivors include two sons, Jeff Layell (Karen), and Billy Layell Jr.; two daughters, Diane Speaks and Mary Foster (Johnny); seven grandchildren; and a special friend, Edward Darnell.
Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
