A humble fish vendor and shopkeeper who wedded Anna Ceroni on February 7, 1880, Guglielmo fathered seven children of whom four reached adulthood, including Cardinals Gaetano (1881 - 1962), and Amleto Giovanni (1883 - 1973). Widowed in 1924, he lived long enough to see his Gaetano elected and consecrated Titular Archbishop of Ancyra and to see the Villa Cicognani constructed in Brisighella which gave birth to him and his children in which he passed peacefully away shortly thereafter.
