Diane Davis, age 73, of Macclenny, Florida passed away on July 8, 2016 at her residence. She was born on March 19, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Julian "Curly" Parker Dekle and Alma Andrews Dekle. Diane was raised in Jacksonville where she attended school and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1959. Shortly after graduation, Diane started her first job at King Edwards Cigar Factory and soon after started her family. She was a loving mother to her two sons who she raised in Jacksonville and New York. Diane was a Lab Assistant for a Medical Research Company that specialized in finding cures for aging and also worked at a custom bridal shop in Utica, New York. Once she returned to Jacksonville, Diane became a Medical Receptionist and Personal Assistant at North Florida Cardiovascular Group where she served for 16 years until retiring to help take care of her mother. Diane was a very intelligent woman who enjoyed working with her hands. She was a seamstress and visual artist who worked with watercolors. She made clothing, quilts, pottery, along with numerous crafts. Diane also enjoyed puzzles, genealogy, botany, reading, writing and editing books. She edited several published books throughout the years. Diane has been a resident of Macclenny since 1979 and recently has attended Brandy Branch Baptist Church in Bryceville. Most of all, Diane loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Diane is preceded in death by her husband, Gilford Davis; her sister, Evelyn Hartley; and her dog, who was like a grandchild, Bumper.
Diane is survived by her sons, Johnny- Todd (Rhonda) Nobles of Macclenny, FL, Edward Scott (Diana) Elley of Jacksonville, FL; and her longtime companion, Steven Harper of Macclenny, FL.
A Celebration of Diane's life will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 10:00 am at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Deryle Adkison officiating. Interment will follow at Dekle Cemetery in Lake Butler, FL. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
