Ronald Lee Ambrose, Sr., 80, of Creswell died Tuesday, June 28 at Chowan River Nursing Center in Edenton.

Born December 1, 1935 in Washington County, he was the son of the late Jordan Thomas Ambrose and Pearl Virginia Furlough Ambrose and was preceded in death by his sisters, Maxine A. Spring and Ramona A. Spruill; brothers, Junior Ambrose, Sylvestor Ambrose and William Ambrose. Ronald was a retired farmer and member of Cabin Swamp Church of Christ. He was one of the founders of Open Door Christian Ministries, a deacon for many years and a member of the Kinsmen Quartet.

He is survived by his wife, Starlyn Mann Ambrose; daughter, Annette Ambrose Davenport and husband Jimmy; son, Ronald L. "Ron" Ambrose, Jr. and wife, Ginny, all of Creswell; grandchildren, Cara Ambrose, Callee Ambrose and Leslie Davenport.

A funeral service was to be held Saturday, July 2 at 2 p.m. at Cabin Swamp Church of Christ, Columbia with Greg Brookins and Larry Woodley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery...
