U.S. Veteran Hendrik Willem van Voorthuysen passed away on Wednesday, September 23rd 2009.

Beloved husband of Eleanor Woodward van Voorthuysen and loving father to three
children, Yvonne van Voorthuysen of Ponchatoula, La., Michiel van Voorthuysen
and his wife Maurer of Covington, La. and Robert van Voorthuysen and his wife
Kathleen of Peachtree City, Georgia. He is also survived by his two
grand.daughters Monique Weissmann, Martine van Voorthuysen and stepchildren
Mollie and Billy Wynn of Charlotte, North Carolina.

He is preceded in death by his first wife; Martha Nieuwenhuis van Voorthuysen;
his father Petrus van Voorthuysen, his mother Maria Gerharda Klomp van
Voorthuysen and two brothers and two sisters.

He was 85, born in Veenendaal, The Netherlands and was a resident of Covington,
La. Mr. van Voorthuysen worked for 40 years in Commercial Airline Sales and
Marketing as a manager with the Dutch Airline-KLM Royal Dutch Airlines in the
USA. After being stationed in Amsterdam, Holland initially, he was transferred
to New York City, Houston and then New Orleans. As a veteran of World War II in
Holland he was attached to the American and Canadian Army as an interpeter.
After his retirement as an airline executive he enjoyed volunteering at the New
Orleans WWII D-Day Museum for many years before moving back to Covington.

Relatives and Friends of the family are invited to attend memorial services at
11am on Thursday, October 1st 2009 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st
Ave., Covington, La. 70433 985.892.9222.

Visiting Hours will begin at 9am until the service time.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National World War
II D-Day Museum in New Orleans in Hendrik van Voorthuysen's name.
