The body of a young girl, found strangled in a remote area near San Juan Capistrano early Saturday is believed to be that of a Long Beach girl reported missing in Elsinore two weeks ago.
Elsinore sheriff's detectives were to travel to Orange County Saturday night in an attempt to establish whether the slaying victim is Genise Rispin 13, 2671 Daisy Ave. who disappeared with a companion, Edwin Miller 16, of Elsinore, Aug 29.
Miller's body was found two days later on the Ortega Highway, 15 miles from Lake Elsinore, but there was no trace of the Rispin girl.
As of late Saturday, Miller's cause of death had not been established.
Detective Sgt Ben Oxandabourne of the Orange County sherriff's Department said the girl's body was discovered in a field under a tree near Camino Capistrano Road by two hitchhikers at about 7:30 a.m.
Dennis Stanley 19, and William Egger, 21 both of Kirkland, Wash. were hitchhiking to San Diego when they discovered the body.
Oxandabourne said an investigation showed that the girl had been strangled. he said the badly decomposed body was fully clothes and investigators estimated she had been dead for a week to two weeks. He said it was not known Saturday whether the girl had been sexually molested.
He said the girl was about 13-16 , five foot five, 110-120 pounds, with brownish blond hair, and had an appendectomy scar and braces.
She had on a shirt with blue Levis and sandals. A gold ring on her finger carried the inscription E.M. 1972.
Miller and Miss Rispin daughter of Jack and Colleen Rispin, were close friends.
The Rispins had a mobile home at Crane Lake Side Park in Elsinore and were visiting there at the time she disappeared.
The young couple was last seen at 9:30 p.m. walking down the main street near the trailer park.
Her attire the night she disappeared matched that of the murder victim found Saturday.
Her mother described her as being five foot five, 120 pounds and having blond hair and braces on her teeth.
Miller's body was first discovered Aug 30 by a passing motorist who had car trouble. The motorist did not report the find to police, but told friends about it the next day. Orange County Sheriff's deputies then went to the scene but discovered the body was in Riverside County territory and it was not until late that evening that Riverside sheriff's deputies retrieved the corpse.
