Roberto C. " Beto" Gonzalez, 67. went to be with the Lord on Monday May 23, 2016 in Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio Veterans hospital after a long illness. He was born in Rios, Texas on October 25, 1948 to his parents, Ramiro and Elodia Gonzalez. He served his country in the Army and was injured in Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with V(1st OLC); Vietnam Campaign Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Combat Infantryman Badge;Marksman (RifleM-16); Expert (Rifle M-14); Good Disconduct Medal. He ws a licensed Race horse trainer, a rancher and farmer. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Disabled American Veterans, member of the VFW, the American Quarter Horse Association and was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his father, Ramiro V. Gonzalez and his brother Ramiro C. Gonzalez Jr.;a niece, Genoveva Gonzalez and parents-in-law, David and Gregoria Rodriguez;
brother-in-law, Jesus M. Rodriguez.
Beto is survived by is wife, Rosario R. Gonzalez of Premont, Tx; his mother, Elodia C. Gonzalez of Rios, Texas; brothers and sister, Wally Gonzalez (Imelda) of Alice, Texas; Luz Divina (Alvaro) Lopez of Corpus Christi, Texas;Evangelina Hinojosa of Alice, Texas; Norma Muniz (Gerardo) of Premont, Texas; Joel (Gloria)Gonzalez of Alice, Texas; Elodia (Modesto) Villanueva of Corpus Christi, Texas, Ricardo (Anna) Gonzalez of Benavides, Texas Eladio (Pamela) Gonzalez of Lewisville, Texas;one sister in law, Consuelo Gonzalez of Houston, Texas; brothers and sister-in-law Jose David (Maria) Rodriguez; Diana (Ramon)Valenzuela, George (Linda) Rodriguez, Imelda (David) Peralez, Willie (Irma) Rodriguez; numerous nieces and nephews, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 pm. on Friday May 27th, 2016 at the Garza Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Rosary at 7:00PM that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00a.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at St. Theresa Catholic church in Premont, Texas. Military Graveside Service and Interment with Alice Burial Veterans and the VFW post of Falfurrias, Texas will follow at Ramiro V. Gonzalez Cemetery in Rios, Texas.
