Thomas David "Tommy" Bowman was born on Mar. 29, 1948 in Clarksburg, Harrison Co., West Virginia. Raised in an old log house near Anmore, WV, he was the son of Howard Lander Bowman (1907-1978) and Zella Olive Humphrey (1912-1992), one of their nine known children. Both of Tommy's parents died in Clarksburg, Harrison Co., WV and are buried there in the Trinity United Methodist Church Cemetery in Bridgeport. Harrison Co., WV.

Tommy was a 1960s veteran of the Vietnam War. A very patriotic person, he served an additional 20 years as a member of the Army Reserve, once serving as Commander of VFW Post #1179 in Shelbyville.

Tommy was married to Lou Ella Blackburn.
