"VAN SKIVER, William T.D." "Wm Vanskiver" "Last Thursday evening at 8 o'clock at the family residence in Lovilla, occurred the death of William Van-Skiver, one of the early settlers of Iowa. For the past ten years the deceased had suffered with paralysis and during the last three years of his life was an invalid, about a week before his death he was taken seriously ill, and gradually grew worse until death came to relieve his years of suffering."
"William Thornton Dorsey Van-Skiver was born in Virginia Nov. 13, 1822, making him at the time of his death 80 years 2 months and 9 days old."
"When a child he with his parents moved to Ohio, where he resided until 1854, when he moved to Iowa and settled in Wapello county. After residing there several years he moved to Monroe county and since then has made his home in Marion and Monroe counties. For the past almost two years the family has resided in Lovilla."
"The deceased was married December __, 1850 to Adaline Marsh to whom born three children all of whom are living: David resides at Penelton __; Thornton, at Smith Center, Ka(nsas); Mrs. Eliza Pyatt at Enyart, Mo."
"By his second wife, Isabelle Bre(dwell) to whom he was Married Jan. 16, (1862): Mrs. Zenia Bropley of Hebrom, __, is their only child living. A son (died in) infancy. March 1, 1863, he was untied in marriage, to Mrs. Juliet(t S. Owens Rice) and to them one child was born Alice Van Skiver, who still resi(des) at home. The funeral was held Sat(urday) afternoon from the M.E. church, conducted by Rev. Kight. The re(mains) were interred in the Woodbur(n Ceme)tery in Lovilla"
