Mr. Grandy was born March 20, 1918, in Sharon to the late Frank and Florence (Hofius) Morford.
After the death of his mother, Bill was adopted by John and Ethel Grandy, who raised him.
He was a tool grinder for the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. for over 40 years, retiring in 1978.
Bill was a member of the United Commercial Travelers Association and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was a member of New Virginia United Methodist Church, Hermitage, for over 50 years.
He was married to Leona I. (Snow) Grandy, who died Oct. 30, 1999.
He served with the U.S. Army in World War II in the invasions of Normandy, France, Rhineland and central Europe.
He is survived by: three daughters, Betty Jean, wife of Charles E. Lyon Jr., Clarendon, Pa.; Bonnie J. and her husband David Edney, Mercer; and Beverly Swogger, Transfer; five grandsons, Steven and his wife Patty Lyon, Warren, Pa.; Charles A. III and his wife Stephanie Gray, Farrell; David Edney Jr. and Douglas Edney, both Mercer; and William Swogger, Transfer; six great-grandsons, Austin Coates, Kyle Lyon, Zachary Achenbach, Caleb Gray, Joshua Gray and Aidan Gray; and a sister, Betty and her husband Robert O’Hare, Hermitage.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by: a sister, Eleanor Miller; and three brothers, Gaylord and Grant Morford and Leonard Grandy.
