Charles W. Horrocks, 84, of New Hope passed away at Kindred Hospital in Philadelphia, PA on Friday, June 17, 2016. He was born on May 27, 1932 in Philadelphia, PA at his parents Kensington home. He resided in Bristol, PA for most of his life. In November 2015 he moved with his wife to New Hope, PA.
He started work as a machinist in Philadelphia for about 9 years. In 1958 he moved to Levittown, PA and began working in air conditioning, heating and plumbing at J&N Burner Parts in Tullytown, PA for about 20 years. He did air conditioning and heating at Avco Supply in Levittown, PA for 36 years, and retired in August 2015. He really enjoyed his work and was appreciated by his fellow employees.
He was an exceptional league Bowler who participated in many tournaments and won many trophies. He grew up with a love of music, singing, dancing and learned to play guitar. He enjoyed conversation, history, reading his newspaper, watching TV, sports, gardening and going to the local diner. He was quite a handyman who loved woodworking. He adored his dogs, Inky, Flaky and Buddy. He disliked cats, but a Siamese cat named Serena stole his heart. We will remember his love of coffee, baked goods, Wheaties, oatmeal, bananas, strawberry ice cream, ham w/butter sandwiches and burnt hot dogs from the barbeque.
He was so devoted to his family that every year he used his vacation time to take his family on day trips to amusement parks, zoo, beach and museums along with household repairs. Affectionately called “Squeeky wallet”, he always paid his bills on time and gave his family all the necessities. He had a great sense of humor, and will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Beloved husband, father, brother, Pop Pop, uncle and friend – You will be missed! Thanks for all the memories.
Survived by his wife of 61 years, Mildred (nee Walters) and children, Millie Seliga of Chalfont, PA; Shirley White (Eric Smith) of Newfoundland, PA; Charlette Branch (William) of Levittown, PA; and Charles H. Horrocks (Kimberly) of Richboro, PA. His 7 grandchildren – Jesse Smoot, Joseph and Michelle Seliga, Rebecca Salamanca “Dex”, Savannah Branch, Charles R. and Justin Horrocks. His brother, William C.
