Betty Pugh Abels died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Family Hospice and Palliative Care of Mt. Lebanon in Pittsburgh, Pa.

She was born in Parkersburg, the daughter of Clairacy Myrtle Courtney Pugh and Clare Pugh.

For much of her life she was active in various clubs and charitable organizations. She enjoyed time spent with her family and friends as well as golfing, ballroom dancing, gardening and shopping. She found beauty and joy in nature, music, fashion and the decorative arts. Her children will remember her as a woman who valued and possessed style, taste, grace and a sense of humor.

She is survived by two sons, Gregory Abels and Jeffrey Abels (Mary); a daughter, Julia Scott (Mark); four grandchildren, Sarah, Zachary and Melissa Scott and Samuel Abels; one niece, Jan Cutlip Lincicome; and her companion poodle and best friend, Joey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert Edgar (Bo) Abels; her sister, Mary Pugh Morris; and niece, Sandra Morris Grove.

There will be no visitation. Details regarding a future memorial service are pending and will be announced later.
