I'm Bob Holt, the historian of the WWII 752nd Tank Battalion. My dad's gunner and best friend George W. Blessing was killed the day before the war in Italy ended, quite a tragic loss. He was badly wounded when my dad's tank was hit on April 29, and he died of his wounds on May 1st. George "Red" Blessing was well liked by all and was sorely missed by his tank crew and others who knew him.

After a little research, the US Army Personnel Center told me that CPL Blessing was interred at Piney Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville, TX. Red was originally buried in the US Military Cemetery near Florence, Italy and was returned to Piney Grove in early 1948, with arrangements made by the Gragard-Spriggins Funeral Home.
Suggested edit: Your dad's friend was the son of George William Blessing (1884-1939) and Bertha Louise Davis (1890-1975). Both are buried in Piney Grove Cemetery, along with "Red." I am correcting the place of death on the Family Search website to the country Italy, instead of Italy, Texas. It looked incorrect to me with the year being 1945 when we were at war.
