Judy Duey, one of three children born to the marriage of Myron Frank Joy, Jr. and Dorothy Jane (Wullenwaber) Joy, was born on August 29, 1987 in Nelson, Nebraska. She passed away on November 30, 1987, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior, Nebraska.
She was baptized at the Nelson Presbyterian Church by Reverend Robert Williams. She attended Presbyterian services all her life.
Judy was raised in Nelson and graduated from Nelson High School with the class of "66" after which she attended Fairbury Junior College.
On November 28, 1978, Judy married Army Staff Sargeant Paul G. Duey in Anchorage, Alaska. Being married to a military career man, Judy was able to see the world. She spent three years in Anchorage; two years in Colorado Springs, Colorado; three years in Landsthul, Germany; and most recently in Hinnesville, Georgia.
Judy had worked at the Nelson Good Samaritan Center for several years as well as other hospitals and nursing homes where she lived. She was a very faithful and dedicated worker and devoted much of her time to the care of the elderly. She enjoyed her work and caring for her family very much.
Survivors include her husband Staff Sargeant Paul G. Duey; her daughters, Tracy Lynn and Dana Lee, all of Hinnesville, Georgia; two step-children, Mrs. Richard (Christine) Pilcher of Venezia, Italy and Robert J. Duey of Santa Rosa, California; her brother, Thomas R. Joy of Des Moines, Iowa; her sister, Mrs. Steve (Barbara) Rakosky of Nelson; and her loving parents, Myron and Dorothy Joy, also of Nelson.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 4, 1987 at 2:00 p.m. from the United Community Church of Christ in Nelson, Nebraska, with Rev. Norman F. Brooks officiating. Music was provided by soloist, Debi Garrison singing "If I Can Help Somebody" and "One Day At A Time", with Carlita Price as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were: Chris Joy, Jim Joy, Fred Nielsen, Jay Nielsen, Todd Thornton and Chad Thornton. Private family burial was held in the Nelson Cemetery, Nelson, Nebraska. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson, Nebraska, was in charge of the arrangements.
