A. Fern Jones, 86, a resident of Brookstone Estates in Harrisburg, formerly of Eldorado, died 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at Watson Funeral Home, Eldorado. Burial will be in Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at the funeral home.

She was born March 10, 1920, in Springerton to Walter and Bertha (Dosier) Gwaltney. She married Chelsea Jones, who preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2004.


She was a seamstress at Decatur Garment Factory. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Star General Baptist Church and Home Extension. She was a wonderful and loving mother.

She is survived by a son, Guy Vernon (Virginia) Jones of Harrisburg; three daughters, Lois Ann Hafford of Waukegan, Barbara Butler of Herrin and Doris (John) Bott of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; a brother, Cecil (Edith) Gwaltney of Carmi; a sister, Mary (Don) Anderson of Enfield; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Glen (Frances) Gwaltney.



Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Valley Star General Baptist Church.
