Ed was a saddle maker, and he and his wife owned and operated Big A Saddle Shop, in Dowelltown, TN, for 35 years. He attended Lower Helton The Baptist Church in Smithfield, TN.
Merrett is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary (Crisante) Ackerson of Dowelltown, TN, two sons, Merrett Ackerson of Smithfield TN and Laredo Ackerson, of Pen Argyl, PA, 3 Grandchildren, Erica Kersjus and her husband Joel, Casey Centers and her husband Kyle, and Tyler Ackerson. 4 Great Grandchildren, Aiden and Shaylyn Centers, Ethan and Brooklyn Kersjes.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, June 14th at James B. Gaffney Funeral Home, 314 S. First Street, Bangor, PA. Friends are invited to call Noon - 8 PM on Monday, June 13th and from Noon - 1 PM on Tuesday, June 14th in the funeral home. Burial will be held at the New Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Roseto, PA.
