Mr. Leon Thomas Archer, age 76 of Griffin, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at his residence.
Mr. Archer was born on December 27, 1939. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Walter Archer and Margaret Rampley Archer; and brother, Ed Archer. Mr. Archer started Archer, Sand and Gravel, which he sold to his brother, and became a Professional Dirt Track Racer, being inducted into to the National Hall of Fame, the Georgia Hall of Fame and the Spalding County Hall of Fame. He also owned and operated Archer Clearing and Grading, from where he retired.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra F. Archer; son Mickey Archer; grandchildren, Lidia and Kale Archer; brother, Wayne Archer; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mr. Leon T. Archer will be on Thursday, June 2, 2016 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 11:00am in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Reverend Billy Anderson and Reverend Charles Hanson will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Mausoleum.
