Cliff was born December 9, 1895 at Coon Rapids, Iowa the son of James and Sarah Buchanan. His family moved to Ogilvie in 1905 where he attended Blake School.
He went overseas with the Fort Garry Horse in the First World War.
In 1924 he married Bertha McGhie and they farmed in the Ogilvie district until 1945, when they moved to Gladstone. He was active in the community all of his life, serving on the Ogilvie Church Board and as Trustee of Soudan School. On moving to Gladstone, he was on the Steward Board of the United Church, acted as Secretary of Gladstone Legion No. 110 for several years, and also as President of the Legion. He was Past Master of Gladstone Masonic Lodge No. 11 and Past Worthy Patron Palestine Chapter O.E.S. No. 7, Secretary-Treasurer of the Gladstone Agricultural Society for several years, Bonspiel Secretary of Gladstone Curling Club for 21 years.
Cliff was predeceased by a daughter Jean in 1934, his wife Bertha in 1978, his parents, five brothers and two sisters. He leaves many beautiful memories for his family; daughter and son-in-law Hazel and Elmer Farmer of Dauphin; grandchildren, Raymond and Kathy Farmer of Regina, Dale and Sheila Farmer of Winnipeg, Garth and Karen Farmer of Saskatoon and Shelby and Bill Neill of Thompson; also seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Gladstone United Church with Rev. R. McKinnon officiating. Interment will follow in Gladstone Cemetery.
