Grace Hayes Barnett
Indianapolis, passed away December 30, 2011 She attended Michigan State University and recieved her Master's Degree from the University of Wisconsin. She began her career in New York as a English teacher. She worked for 26 years with Catholic Social Services as the director of Birthline and the Campaign for Human Development and later worked with Indianapolis Public Schools.
Mrs. Grace Hayes Barnett was a former Trustee at Ball State University and was awarded the Sagamore of the Wabash by former Govenor Dr. Otis Bowen.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Holton Hayes, to this union two sons were born. She was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church and Tilman H. Harpole American Legion Post # 249 Auxillary
Services are Thursday, January 5, 2012 at 12 noon at St. Monica Catholic Church, 6200 N. Michigan Rd.Visitation is at 9 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Faulkner and Cole Home for Funerals .
Survivors include her husband, Steve Barnett; children, Elliot and Claudia Hayes, Duane and Heather Hayes, Thomas Hayes, Nikki Barnett and Ryan Woods; and three grand children.
