Howard Thompson "H.T." Ashwood III, 58, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away Sunday morning, May 22, 2016 at his home. He was born July 25, 1957 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Howard Thompson (Buddy) Ashwood Jr and Nan Blankenship Ashwood.
He graduated from Coulterville High School in Coulterville, IL in 1975 and furthered his education at OSUIT in Okmulgee, OK, obtaining his Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences. Howard was a proud member of the United States Army, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He served during Desert Storm/Desert Shield co-piloting a OH58 Delta Scout Helicopter as a forward observer. He was the recipient of many military and humanitarian awards during his service tenure. He retired in 1995 with more than 15 years of meritorious service.
He married Debra Ann Jackson in December 1984 in Lawton, OK. They shared more than 31 years of life and marriage together.
He was currently employed at Multi Cellular Services in Edmond at the time of his death. Howard was an enthusiastic HAM Radio Operator (K5HTA); however, his greatest joys were his sons and his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them, and made sure they knew how much he loved them at every available opportunity. Howard was preceded in death by his grandparents, H.T. "Bud" and Margaret Ashwood, and Von and Ruby Blankenship.
He is survived by his wife, Debra of the home; sons, Michael D.J. (Katie) Ashwood of Warner Robins, GA, Howard T (Crystal) Ashwood IV of Muskogee, OK; parents, Howard T Ashwood II and wife Nan of Sapulpa, OK; brothers, Gary (Mary) Ashwood of Sapulpa, OK, Chris (Becky) Ashwood of Kiefer, OK; sister, Nancy (Harold) Murphy of Kellyville, OK; grandchildren, Deborah A Ashwood, Kaila Ashwood, both of Anchorage, AK, T.J. Ashwood, Tristin Ashwood, Chase Bowles, Blake Bowles, Piper Batterman, Lennon Batterman, of Muskogee,OK, and Jackson Ashwood of Warner Robins, GA; along with a host of family members and friends that will miss him dearly.
The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.
Funeral services honoring Howard's life will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 27, 2016 at Oldham Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Glen Little officiating.
Service pallbearers will be Chris Ashwood Jr, Travis Ashwood, Lee Barber, James Blankenship, Ethan Murphy, and Shea Williams.
Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Full Military Honors being presented. Members of the Fort Sill Army Honors Team will serve as pallbearers at the cemetery.
