Hellen F. Scholz, 90, of Central City died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at Litzenberg Long Term Care in Central City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Central City. The Revs. Brad Rick and Richard Kothe will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.
Hellen was born on Oct. 15, 1913, in Stratford, Wis., to Max F. and Elizabeth (Fritz) Grosch.
Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter, Arlene L. Scholz of Central City; a brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Virginia Grosch of Hot Springs, S.D.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Esther Lamm of Grand Island and Mabel and Gilbert Hinkle of Silver Creek; and a sister-in-law, Elsie Grosch of Silver Creek.
Mrs. Scholz grew up in various areas in western Nebraska and received her education at Bartley and Silver Creek, Nebraska.
She married Walter H. Scholz on September 14, 1941, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Central City. The couple lived on a farm northeast of Central City all their married life. She moved into Central City shortly after Walter died on
April 10, 1979. Hellen entered Litzenberg Long Term Care in August of 2003.
Mrs. Scholz was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Central City. She enjoyed baking and gardening, raising chickens, and handpicking corn with her husband in the early 1940s. She liked spending time outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; two sons, Allan W. and infant Wade Dale; two brothers, Gottlieb Grosch and Fred Grosch; two infant brothers, Edwin and Walter; a sister-in-law, Jane; a brother-in-law, Carl Lamm; and a niece, Holly Grosch.
