Robert John Welkom of Catawissa, went to be with the Lord, May 11, 2016 at his residence.
Robert was born May 5, 1934 in Cleveland Township and was a son of the late John Welkom Jr.
He was a graduate of Ralpho Township High School. He retired in 2009 from Commonwealth of Pa. as an inspector for DCNR and was active member of our Lady of Mercy Church. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and attending Sporting and Scholastic events in which his grandchildren participated.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Welkom.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Audrey (Meyers) Welkom whom he married on November 26. 1955, and four children; Raelene Skerda and her husband John, Angela Gursky and her husband Kerry, Robin Welkom and his wife Cathy, and Ramon Welkom and his wife Megan. Eight grandchildren; Cole Gursky, Lt. Jessica Loving, Brooke Gursky, Karissa Skerda, Logan Welkom, Abigail Welkom, Christopher O’Blosser, Katie O’Blosser and one great granddaughter Zaira Gursky. Also, two sisters, Jayne Keyte, Joanne Wilhour and her husband Edward, and two brothers Ronald Welkom and Richard Welkom.
Services will be Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 10:00 am from Our Lady of Mercy Church, 304 Slabtown Rd. Catawissa Pa. 17820, with Father Patrick Devine officiating. Burial will follow at McIntyre Cemetery, Rte 42 Catawissa Pa.
