CONWAY - Melda Privette Ford, 52, went to her heavenly home on May 10, 2016, after a sudden incident at her home in Conway, SC, awaiting hip surgery in Charlotte, NC. She was born in Florence, SC, daughter of the late Ernest Henry and Helen Patricia Blackmon Privette. They were members of Calvary Baptist Church, where Melda played with the hand bell choir under the direction of Howard Starks. She resided in Florence for the first part of her life, graduating from West Florence High School in 1982, and for the last twenty-six years, she lived in Conway. Melda was previously employed by TranSouth Financial in Florence and in Conway. She lived in the Good Hope Community and was active at Good Hope Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir, playing the piano, teaching Sunday School, working with children, and working with the senior adults. She enjoyed doing a variety of things, going places, and being outside. Melda loved feeding birds, tending to her plants, and playing with her cat and dog. She was a loving wife, mom, YaYa, and a very organized home maker, and an excellent cook. She was the life of her home. All who knew her, loved her, and she loved them.

She is survived by her husband of twenty-six years, Robert Marion Ford, Jr., and son, Robbie Stetson Ford, stepdaughter, Samantha Ford Rabon (Samuel), and three grandchildren, Gracie, River, and Hunter Ford of Cool Springs. She is also survived by her two older brothers, John Mark Privette (Lucy Alfano) of Tampa, FL, and Ernest Alan Privette of Florence, SC, and one nephew, Jesse Rhys Privette; also of Florence, SC.

Visitation was at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel, on May 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial was at Good Hope Baptist Church, in Conway, on May 15, 2016 at 4 p.m.
