June Menefee Agee, 94, of Elliston, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016. She was born June 30, 1921 to the late Ira Hurt and Pearl Hamner Menefee. June was another member of a generation that are daily honored and remembered across this land that gave so much and asked so little in return.

She will be remembered as an active mother who instilled outdoor activities in her family to include camping, hiking and water skiing. She taught swimming for the YWCA and was a member of Hillcrest Chapter No. 159 Order of the Eastern Star. June worked for NCR and later retired from Ingersoll Rand.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, William R. Agee; brothers, Ira H. (Bill) Menefee, Jr., Roy Jamerson Menefee and his wife, Rose, Joseph Menefee, James Menefee; sister-in-law, Eva Agee Bond and husband, Ezra.

She is survived by her children, Richard Kenneth Agee (Bonnie), Patricia A. Radford (Rodney), Robert E. Agee; daughter-in-law, Doris Agee; grandchildren, Michelle Williams (Cliff), Todd Radford (Nicole), Shannon Boone (Aaron), Corey Radford (Shannon), Brian Agee (Heather), Kaitlin and Sidney Agee, Dorise Sowers (Randy), John Hurley (Paige); great grandchildren, Myia Williams, Ian Agee, Clay Radford, Grace and Reese Boone, Jordan Radford, Oliver Agee and Cade Whitworth, Morgan and Christopher Hancock, Olivia Hurley; sister-in-law, Gerry Menefee; and special niece, Shelby King.

A funeral service which will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Oakey’s East Chapel. Interment will follow in Glade Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
