Thomas (Tommy) H. Burkett, Sr., age 87 of Panama City, Fla., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 5, 2016. Tommy was a faithful husband to Dovie Kelly Burkett for 56 years and a loving father to June Freeman (Ronnie,) Jan Lisenby (Danny,) Missy Burkett (Aaron) all of Panama City and Judy Wallace (Jim) of Greenville, S.C.; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rosie Burkett; two sons, JR and Johnny Burkett of Panama City.

Tommy will be remembered by his love for gardening, fishing, bluegrass gospel music and his famous homemade pepper sauce. He was loved and respected by all that knew him, especially his nieces and nephews and his extended family at The Music Barn. Special thanks to all the staff at Covenant Hospice for their excellent, loving care.

Officiating will be Pastor Dean Shumway and Pastor Don Shoots. Serving as pallbearers: Chase Hazlett, Jacob Warren, Elton Burkett, Jr., Derreck Burkett, Wilford Kelly, and Willard Kelly. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2016, at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at Heritage Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Southport Memorial Gardens. Those wishing to extend condolences may do so at www.heritagefhllc.com.
