8307 Warrant Shipwright, Royal Australian Navy. Serving on H.M.A.S. Shropshire at the time of his death. Son of William and Norah Murphy. Husband of Ada Clare Murphy, of 18 Knox Street, Clovelly, New South Wales, Australia. First joined the Royal Australian Navy on 11 Dec 1915 and served continuously until early 1939. Awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) 1 Jan 1938. Served 1942-1943 during WW2. Found drowned at Sixth Berth, Cape Town docks aged 49 years. Also commemorated on the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, Australia.
