Mr. AKINS was retired from the Florida Department of Agriculture, was a former city councilman and also owned a grocery store.
He was a lifelong resident of Bell and a member of Mount Nebo Baptist Church in Bell.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth P AKINS of Bell, three sons, Francis AKINS, Alvin AKINS and Wayne AKINS, all of Bell; three daughters, Sylvia M. ROBERTS, Patsy R BRUCE and Faye N SHEFFIELD, all of Bell; a brother, Caswell AKINS of Cross City; 22 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. at Mount Nebo Baptist Chursh with Rev. Jimmy Corbin conducting the services. Burial followed in the Bell Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Yates-Gooding Funeral Home, Trenton, Florida.
