Greta, as she was affectionately known, came to America in 1946 with her son Joe, Jr. Although she always loved Ireland, the USA became her adopted country and she proudly became a naturalized citizen in 1953. She conscientiously voted throughout her life. After graduating from school, she began employment for 7 years at the Ulida Clothing Manufacturing Co. in Belfast. In the United States she worked part time for H. Leh and Co. She was affiliated with the War Brides Group after World War II, the Afghan Hounds and the Episcopal Church Women (ECW) of St. Andrew's. Greta was a parishioner and faithful communicant of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church for more than 55 years.
Greta loved to cook and bake (skills learned professionally in Ireland), play her piano, garden, follow current events and the weather. Spring was her favorite season. Greta's true occupation was as a homemaker, wife and nurturer. She loved her family, always motivating, encouraging and showing devotion unconditionally. Our mother will be greatly missed. "God bless and cheerio!"
Survivors: Margaret is survived by her son, Joseph and wife Jeanne (Krenicky); daughter, Brenda Hunsicker-Stein; grandchildren, Thomas, Jessica and Jeffrey; great grandchildren, Amber, Angela, Jade, George and Lee, Jr.
