Dr. Larry Von Caldwell, age 53, passed away all too soon on April 16, 2016, bound from this earthly home to his eternal home with our Lord and Savior, after sustaining injuries from an automobile accident on April 2nd. Born January 8, 1963, Dr. Larry Caldwell grew up in Gulfport, Mississippi, with strong religious and educational values, the youngest of 8 children to Louis C. Caldwell, Sr. and Loretta Ray Caldwell. He graduated Xavier University of New Orleans, Magna Cum Laude, with Bachelor of Science, Chemistry-Pre-medicine 1985, with honors Agatha Ryan Award, Alpha Epsilon Delta Honor Society, Senior Class Senator and Phi Lambda Upsilon Chemistry Honor Society. He graduated Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, La. 1990 achieving his Medical Doctorate and Masters in Public Health. He then served his Residency in Pathology 1990-1995, Tulane Affiliated Hospitals with a Fellowship in Cytopathology 1995-1996 at Louisiana State University Medical Center, New Orleans, LA. Larry lived in New Orleans, until 2010 when he moved to the Atlanta area. He was a Medical Consultant with the Social Security Administration, Atlanta Federal Regional Office from 2010-until his passing. He also worked at various Departments of Correction in Louisiana from 1991, until his passing and at various occupational health facilities, and minor emergency clinics.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riley Chapel United Methodist Church of Gulfport, MS, Grady Memorial Hospital Trauma Center of Atlanta, GA, or sent to Xavier University of Louisiana in honor of Dr. Larry Caldwell. Dr. Larry Caldwell’s celebration of life service is planned for Gulfport, Mississippi, Riley Chapel United Methodist Church, April 22, 2016, viewing 12:00 pm, followed by the funeral at 1:00 pm. Following the funeral, burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 8910 Carl Legett Road, Gulfport, MS.
