James “Rick” Abbott peacefully passed away in Tucson, Arizona March 19, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Rick was born October 12, 1947 in Jackson, Mississippi to Roger Abbott and Virginia Loyed Abbott.

Rick joined the Army at a young age and bravely served his country during the Vietnam War, receiving the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal and a Purple Heart. He became a civil engineer working in power plants in Arizona and Missouri. Rick was a very kind, generous and selfless man who made those around him feel safe. He could have a discussion on any topic with any person, even a perfect stranger. He was an avid painter and enjoyed watching and discussing baseball. Rick cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his 4 loving grandchildren.

Rick will join in Heaven mother Virginia Abbott and father Roger Abbott.
