Anita E. Treadway, age 79, of the Little Creek Community, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 29th, 2017 at Smoky Ridge Health and Rehabilitation. Anita was born in Unicoi County, TN to the late Sam and Gertha Guinn Edwards. She was the wife of the late Robert Ernest Treadway who passed away in 2012. Anita was also preceded in death by sister, Nina West; niece, Tracey Edwards and step-granddaughter, Mariah Halker. She was a member of Higgins Freewill Baptist Church and loved her church family very much. Anita worked for a number of years at Roses in Burnsville. She was very proud of her family, all of whom she adored.

Surviving are her children: Janet Ray and husband, Phillip, of Burnsville, Melinda Peek and husband, Dennis, of Jacksonville, FL, Lisa Halker and husband, Gary, of Port Charlotte, FL and Ernie Treadway of Burnsville; grandchildren: Brandon Carroll and wife, Mindy, Joshua Ray and wife, Nicole, James Halker, Heather Peek, Alex Treadway and Nathan Treadway; great-grandchildren: Aleigh Carroll, Shelby Ray and Jackson Ray; five step-grandchildren; ten step great-grandchildren; a sister, Jewel Edwards of Burnsville and a brother, Alden Edwards and wife, Norma, also of Burnsville. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 1st in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Junior Peterson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sam Edwards Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
