Herb was born on July 22, 1928 in Aniwa, Wisconsin, the third son of Ed and Esther (Oesterich) Chrudimsky. He was educated in Wisconsin schools. Herb moved to western North Dakota with his family in 1945, where he met and later married Marian Brettin on October 21, 1951 in Hebron, North
Dakota.
In 1955, Herb and Marian became landowners when they purchased the Still Place, north of Wibaux. They established their beef cattle ranch and farm. In 1979, they moved north of Wibaux where they currently reside.
Herb was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Beach for many years. He took part in many activities of the church including helping with the construction of both of the lighted crosses that can be seen from I-94 and Hwy #10.
Herb was a community oriented man having served for forty one years on the Golden West Electric Board and the Upper Missouri G and T. He was a stock holder of Western Livestock in Dickinson, North Dakota and served on the board of the Golden Valley Manor in Beach. Dear to Herb’s heart was the 4-H clubs and the Wibaux County Fair. He was proud to partner with Hank Schieffer sponsoring the stick horse rodeo at the fair.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Earl, Floyd and Dan Chrudimsky and his two sisters, Elaine Trester and Fern O’Neil.
