In the mid-1960s, Klaus Höss, the eldest of Rudolf and Hedwig Höss’ five children, emigrated with his German wife Lisolet (Lilo) to Australia. Klaus and Lilo Hoess settled in Sydney where they brought up their only daughter, Christine Höess, Anita’s mother. They later divorced. In the mid-1980s Klaus died in Sydney from liver cirrhosis as a result of chronic alcohol abuse. He is survived by his ex-wife Lilo, daughter Christine, and numerous nephews and nieces
