Martin Tod Hewitt, age 47, went home to see his Lord on Sunday, April 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family. After a long battle with cancer, Tod now walks pain free in Heaven's glory.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. Burial will follow at Silent City Cemetery.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Monroe. The family will greet friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Tod's family to be used towards his children's future education.
The son of Charles Paul and Kathryn Ruth (Dickerson) Hewitt, Tod was born on July 2, 1968 in Newton, Iowa. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1986 and worked at Maytag and then Trinity Structural Towers in Newton.
Tod was united in marriage to Carmen Marie Provenzano in Knoxville. Though they settled in Pella, Tod remained very close to his parents. An avid outdoorsman, he passed his love for nature on to his children and nieces and nephews. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, dirt biking, camping and hunting for mushrooms.
He preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and twenty aunts and uncles.
