Graveside services for Thomas Baylor, 94, of Madisonville, will be held at 2 P.M., Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the Allphin Cemetery in rural Madison County. Wayne Bell, of Madisonville Funeral Home, will officiate the service. A visitation will take place from 9:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M., Wednesday morning at the Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas. Thomas Willard Baylor was born on September 13, 1921 in Smithville, Texas to Thomas Jefferson & Gladys (Copeland) Baylor. He grew up in Houston and entered the U.S. Marine Corps in August 1942. He served during WWII and was discharged in 1946 as a Corporal. During this time, he married his wife, Dorothy Ruth Glass, on December 26, 1943. They were married for seventy-one years. After his military service, Thomas became a master electrician in Houston. In 1982, he retired from Manning Electric, and in 1992, Thomas and Dorothy moved to Madisonville to be closer to their family. Thomas’ hobby was his work. When he retired, he continued to stay busy around his home. He always found something to fix or build, and was a very organized man, having every tool and gadget in its place in his workshop. Thomas was also a collector and never threw anything away. He passed away on April 2, 2016 in Madisonville, Texas. Thomas was preceded in death by both of his parents; sister, Winnie Lee Divoti and grandson, Reese Baylor. Surviving family members include wife, Dorothy Ruth Baylor of Madisonville; son & daughter-in-law, Roger & Curtistene Baylor of Madisonville; brothers & sisters-in-law, Roland & Diane Baylor of Alpine and Robert & Marjory Baylor of Chico, California; granddaughters, Becky (Jon) Siemens and Lori (Brent) Gibbs and great grandsons, Justin & Bryce Siemens and Jace Gibbs. Thomas is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family of Thomas Baylor request that memorial donations be made to a charity or organization of choice. Madisonville Funeral Home in Madisonville, Texas is in charge of all arrangement.
