Princess. Of the Vasa Dynasty, she was the infant daughter, and the first child, of King John III and Queen Catherine, born and dead during their captivity as deposed Duke and Duchess of Finland at Gripsholm Castle, before they ascended the throne. That fact and her portraits, painted while she was living and also sculpted for her grave monument, made her more widely known than most babies.
