Our Mermaid Princess, Brooke Alyson Phillips, was born on July 23, 2001. She lived five beautiful years here on this side of heaven, full of courage, love and laughter. She was and always will be our sunshine. Our hearts are brighter because of her light and joy and sassiness and humor and smiles and love. She has taught “all her people” how wide and long and high and deep love truly can be. She loved BIG and managed to capture the hearts of all who met her ? sometimes, even while she was asleep. It was a complete honor and privilege to be her parents.

All of her family, parents, Chaney and Jessica Phillips; big sister, Taylor; grandparents, Jesse and Monette Smith and Bert and Sharron Phillips; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins will miss her terribly, but we know we will get to see her again one day.

While riding in the car one day, Brooke asked, “When I go to heaven, do you think God will let me be a mermaid with a green tail and long hair?” We assured her that He would. We are confident that our mermaid is swimming in heaven’s Crystal Sea as Father God watches His Brookie Girl with great love in His eyes. “Get everything ready for us Brookie, we’re coming to you. We love you up to the sky!”

Brooke’s service will be held on Friday, October 6, 2006, at Family Life Church, 220 Lake Road, in Lake Jackson, TX, at 2:00 p.m., with graveside services following at Angleton Cemetery.

The pallbearers are her cousins: Kent, Keith, Kyle and Bryce Phillips, Danny Martin, Gabriel Mayes, and Nick and Brent Slaughter, and honorary pallbearer is Tyler Farkas.

In lieu of flowers, we greatly desire for you to make contributions to the Brooke A. Phillips Benefit Fund. The Phillips family is going to create a foundation in honor of Brooke at a later date. The contributions to this fund/foundation will be used to serve and love and care for other cancer kids and their precious families. We will spend and be spent ? for the rest of our lives ? to serve and love BIG other families touched by cancer. We will LOVE as Brooke has taught us to.
